Stray Cats

Issue: Stray cats are easily bumped in the middle of the road. Sometimes they bad luck with dogs, and they have hard time finding food.To find food usually they find food ind the rubbish dump.

Soultion: Help stray cats, we must take the stray cats on the road. Then we take care of the cat give it food. If you do not want to own the cat you could bring it to the pet shelter.

Giant panda 

The issue:Fewer than 1,600 giant pandas are left in the world, making it the rarest bear species. They live in a few mountain ranges in central China, in Sichuan, Shaanxi, and Gansu provinces. The species once lived in lowland areas of the country but lost its habitat in those regions because of farming, deforestation, and other development. You can watch these creatures on cams run by the National Zoo and the San Diego Zoo.

 The solution:In recent years, China has stepped up efforts to protect pandas from deforestation and poaching. But Liu says the country has yet to consider the long-term effects of climate change in its conservation planning. Aside from increasing nature reserve areas where pandas are protected, Liu wants China to lower its use of fuels that release greenhouse gases—as should the rest of the world. "The future of pandas," he says, "is in our hands.

 My opinion: The bamboo is the food of panda. People have chop down lots of bamboo trees for the panda's food that which it makes the loss of the panda

Lourdes Lemurs

 Issue
Lemurs are the most endangered land mammals. More than 90% of the 101 known lemur species face extinction. The greater bamboo lemur is one of the most endangered, with an estimated population of only 500 remaining in the wild.

Solution:

Don't have more wild like lees than 500  like 400,300,200,100 like some like that.
Lemurs is dangeres but it could be train to be a good animals  and the animals can really be a friend.

Snow Leopard issue by Shanti

Issue:
Snow leopards living in the mountains of Central Asia have been recognized as an endangered species since 1972 because of poaching and the illegal trading of fur and body parts, which are used in traditional Asian medicine. Their white-and-gray fur helps them blend into their natural surroundings, and they have extra-large paws to prevent them from sinking into the snow, according to the Snow Leopard Trust.

Environmental Advertisements

Year 3 are preparing to film their very own environmental advertisements, The three groups have written their own script, created their own props and created a storyboard to plan for their advertisements.

The key elements of their adverts are as follows:

• clear message
• simple but interesting
• minimum 20 seconds
• maximum 1 minute
• the advert needs a slogan

Yesterday (Thursday, 31st March 2016), each group went on location with me (Ms. Emma) to have a practice shoot.  Here's how they went! Enjoy!

Meilia's Rescuing Cheetahs

RESCUING CHEETAHS

 

ISSUE:

Quick as the cheetah may be, though, it is far from invincible. The pale-yellow cat with black spots was once a common sight throughout Africa and much of Asia. Just over 100 years ago, there were about 100,000 cheetahs in the world.

But in the the 20th century, that number dropped. Poachers captured cheetahs to sell as pets. Hunters shot them for sport. And people built cities and towns where the cats' habitat used to be. Today, there are only about 10,000 cheetahs left.

SOLUTIONS:

In 1977, Marker moved to Namibia, a country in southern Africa where a once-thriving cheetah population was quickly shrinking. Farmers were killing the wild cats. "It's not that the people wanted to kill cheetahs," says Marker. They were trying to protect their farm animals.

Marker had an idea. She knew that for thousands of years, farmers in Turkey had used special dogs, called Anatolian shepherds, to protect their livestock. These guard dogs scare away predators without hurting them. "They bark loudly," says Marker. "They stand their ground."

About 20 years ago, Marker and her team began placing the dogs on Namibian farms. Since then, she says, "we've stopped the killing and doubled the country's cheetah population."

MY OPINION :

Yes , because if we didn't protect cheetahs, they soon will be extinct.

Is to not shot cheetahs and their habitats.     To keep cheetahs population.

1.Title of the article: Plastic, Plastic Everywhere.

2. This article is about many of products we use today contain plastic. There are 5 items you may be surprised to learn contain plastic: chewing gum, toothpaste, face wash ,baby diapers and paper cups .

3. This article does not give solution.

4. This article tells me that plastic is not good for environment.  We must use less products that contains plastics to save our environment.

5. My solutions to the problem:
    - bring your own grocery bags from home when go shopping to malls or supermarkets.
    - Please don't eat chewing gum because they contain plastic.
    - Use less paper cups. Bring your own cups as they are reusable.

Integrated Diorama Project Presentation

 Year 3 students, in pairs presented what they have learned during the transdisciplinary theme of WHERE WE ARE IN PLACE AND TIME.

The central idea is The Geographical Features of the Area in Which People Live Shapes Their Way of Life

The Lines of Inquiry are:
1. Features of different landscapes
2. How people's lives are affected by the landscape in which people they live
3. Comparing the lives of people living in different landscapes.

Each pairs, explained about their landscape project to answer and explain about the lines of inquiry. The audience asked good questions and the presenters able to explain and answer the questions.

They also read their descriptive writing about their landscape in the presentation.

They have shared their knowledge from this activity and show inquirer learner supposed to be.

Bahasa Indonesia - Projek Papan Permainan - Game Board Project

 In Bahasa Indonesia activity, students apply their knowledge about what they have learned about geographical features into game board game. Each groups have to plan a game board incorporated the vocabulary they have learned and also game strategy. This project develops their thinking skills especially in acquisition of knowledge, social skills especially in cooperating and group decision making, self management skill especially in gross motor skills and time management as well develop their mathematical skills when they have to plan the squares design and numbering applications.

1. In unit 4, I learnt a lot of new words like pemandangan, cuaca, suhu, meandering river, city and           coolest.

2. Questions I got in "Spin the Bottle" activity:
     Question 1  : What is the difference between the people who lives in the city and the people in the
                            village? Explain.
     - My answer: The people who live in the city are not kind, but people living in the village are kind
                            because in village they always work together.
     - My friends' answer: People living in the city and village are both kind.

Unit 4 reflection
At unit 4 I learn about landscape/Geographic features. We learn a lot. I and Ravell made a diorama of mountain and volcano. We learn about landscape. One thing I know is mountain is higher than hills.
We also learn math. The tame of math is length,mass,volume, and Bar Graphs. For English we learn how to make stores more interesting. For BI we learn to make Game board. We can choose witch one we want to pick Snake and Larders or Monopoli. My group choose Monopoli. So we made Monopoli.

A: Defenetely, YES.

A:Because I was mad when my friends played and I shouted out so LOUD.

A:Some of my friends asked me to say sorry but I think one said I must've not shout and mind my own business.

Lourdes Island Descriptive Writing Unit 4

Island is any land surrounded entirely by water. There are 4 typical of island: Continental Island, Oceanic Island, Dessert Island, and Tropical Island. Java island is one of the continental island.
 In Java island, we can see mountain, trees, houses, lake, living creatures (human and animal), sand, river,forest, water. Human can survive by :find food in the forest, they wear thin clothes made from cotton to threads. The most important   thing is,WATER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! If there  is no water,WE CANNOT LIVE!!! Water come from mountain.

I learned a lot about geographical features in unit 4. I learned that animal populated areas in the desert usually means water is near. You can learn on more about geographical features by clicking here. Before this unit even started, I wannan know how people survive in thhe desert and it's kind of intresting. The diorama project was fun and cool. In ICT, we made a travel brochure. We used Microsoft Publisher to do this, and that was my first time using Micosoft Publisher.

Unit 4 Reflection

In unit 4 I learned a lot about geographical features like desert, jungle, Forest and etc. In the field trip I learned about the geographical features and also environments for unit 5. I learned new words from the English spilling test week 1-3 and the landscape adjectives. For example: barren= A place where no plants and fruits grow only wild plants such as cacti, tumble weed and etc. When I started making the diorama I learned a lot about the people who lives in the desert and how the people in the desert can survive. For example they eat ostrich’s eggs and pull out cacti’s root to drink in the desert.
